3/9/12 - The FLORIDA CHAMP KART LEAGUE visited Speedway Park at Fruitland Park. This was regular season race #2 with two transfer races completed giving the FCKL four races in the books. The track surface was outstanding and produced state level racing. The FCKL had 68 entries and provided the best TALENT in the state. The FLORIDA CHAMP KART LEAGUE would like to congratulate RAGE CHASSIS for becoming the first chassis manufacture to reach 50 wins. With four victories out of six classes this past race, RAGE has a total of 53 feature wins.
SPORTSMAN CHAMP GREEN (5-8 YR OLDS) - 5 ENTRIES - After winning the heat race it looked like we might have a challenge for Austin Henderson. The gren flagged dropped and #7 Trace Allday took the lead and never looked back. Two late cautions tightened the field back up, but Allday drove off and led every lap to his first FCKL feature win. As Allday led comfortably, #45 Henderson and #16 Conner Brumfield had a tremendous race for second. Brumfield passed Henderson twice, only to have Henderson pull the cross over move each time to take the position back. Henderson finished second, Brumfield third, #13 Katelyn oglesby fourth, and #00 Austin oglesby fifth.
SPORTSMAN CHAMP BLUE (8-12 YR OLDS) - 15 ENTRIES - Another strong class and another similar finish. HLLH stands for Hard Luck Luke Haring. #14 Haring had checked out and was in complete control. #9 Tyler Diel and #51 Blaise Leithead battled all race for second place. Lap traffic came into play early and lap traffic would come into play late. After a second restart, Leithead and Diel moved by Haring to take the top two spots. As the laps winded down, Leithead looked poise to pull off the upset and win his first blue plate feature after moving up this year. But no, an attempt to pass a lap kart high allowed Diel to slip under and win the feature event. At the stripe, Leithead had a nose next to Diel but finished second, Haring third, #19Z Zane Caleb fourth and #5 Juli Ragan fifth.
JR CHAMP MIX (11-15 YR OLDS) - 5 ENTRIES - #8 Kenny Meyers started pole with #55 Ty DeCaire outside pole. Meyers won the heat race with DeCaire providing heavy heat. The feature was to provide the same challenge and how different it became. Meyers jumped out front and DeCaire got shuffled to fourth. Meyers was clearly the fastest kart and pulled away. The race begin between #19 Heather Antis, #14 Luke Haring, and DeCaire. DeCaire slowly worked back to second and then leader Meyers clipped an infield tire and spun. DeCaire assumed the lead. It wasn't over, Antis on several occasions reeled in DeCaire and was clearly faster. All the while, Meyers was moving up fast. When the checkered flag waved DeCaire was ables to slip away for the feature victory, Meyers second, Antis third, #18 Jarret Jones fourth, and Haring fifth.
SR CHAMP MIX (15-UP) - 18 ENTRIES - #92 Jessica Bohatka continues to dominate the FCKL sr class. Bohatka has now won FCKL at Daytona, FCKL race #1 and FCKL race#2 to build an early points lead. Master Champ driver #21 Don Luchetti with a strong showing finished second, last years Jr Champ Mix Champion, #03 Jerrod Holle finished third, #55 Peete Grantham fourth, and newcomer #75 Jimmy Pope fifth.

Bohatka finished second, Holle third, #05 Robbie Shell fourth, and Brown worked his way back to fifth. 2/13/12 -
Sportsman Champ Green Plate / 10 entries - #45 Austin Henderson started up front and led the most laps. Lap traffic late made it interesting as the leaders weaved in and out and at one point, splitting slower champs. When the checkered flag dropped, Henderson in his Rage was up front. #7 Trace Allday came in second, #16 Conner Brumsfield third, #17 Brendan Smith fourth, and #88d TJ DeCaire rounding out the top five.
Sportsman Champ Blue Plate / 18 entries - Blue class goes B-main. With the top 5 from each heat transferring to the A-main, we had 8 in the B-main. With the top two transfering back into the A-main, this main was intense. #5 Juli Ragan lead early and looked poised to move on, but a late spin shuffled the leaders. #88t Stromsnes took the lead from his third position and went on to win the B-main. #78 Nick Trumbell finished second and also transferred. #22 Donnie Luchetti was third, #64 Ronnie Abney was fourth, and #19 Colin Redding was fifth. Onto the A-main with 12 making up the field. This race went green to checkered. Early, #14 Luke Haring and #9 Tyler Diel separated from the pack. As the two dealt with lap traffic, #114 James Seeright closed in. Seeright took the lead and drove off to take the A-main win. Haring was second, Diel third, #19z Zane Caleb fourth, and #4 Cole Crawford rounding out the top five.
Jr Champ Mix / 7 entries - #55 Ty DeCaire took the lead after lap one from his third place starting position. #53 Brandon Yates slipped into second and the chase was on. DeCaire was able to hold on for the feature win, Yates second, #19 Heather Antis third, #14 Luke Haring fourth, and #8 Kenny Meyers rounding out the top five.
Sr Champ Mix / 19 entries - The boys had their hands full! That's because the girls finished one two. #92 Jessica Bohatka made a strong statement for 2012. 1/24/12 - The FCKL 2012 regular season kicks off February 11th, 2012 at Dirt Devils Speedway.
| | | | |
 | | | |
1/24/12 - The former Silver Sportsman Champ is now the Green Sportsman Champ. The FCKL was looking at reducing the speeds for the 5-8 year old class. Intially, we decided to spec frt and rear gear. Unfortunately, the perfect combination is not achievable. With consideration of cost and fairness, we are unable to do so. So, effectively immediately, the gear rule is reverting back to the 2011 rule. Shoe Clutch w/spec 16 tooh driver and open rear gear. The FCKL will spend 2012 testing and researching the correct change to slow this class down for 2013.
| | | | |
 | | | |
1/24/12 - The FCKL is proud to announce for the 2012 season, Bill Smith will move from interim to full time Race Director and Dale Bilger will fill the Head Technical Inspector position. The FCKL now with it's own staff in each of those positions can produce a more consistent and controlled racing event. The FCKL is pleased to meet the members request for these two positions. To compensate for the cost, the entry fee for all classes (except Sr Pro Animal) will now be $35. The Sr Pro Animal entry fee will be $45. $10 of the $45 wil be placed into the Sr Pro Animal point fund. The Sr Pro Animal point fund for 2011 was $2,500. The FCKL will post the point fund as it increases from race to race.

6/22/11 - As it all started as an idea on a scribbled piece of paper back in December of 2008, the Florida Champ Kart League has grown quickly in the past two and a half years. From our first brain storm meeting at Sioux City Steakhouse to a legit Central Florida traveling series. We've had the pleasure to visit six different tracks from Dirt Devils Speedway, Auburndale Speedway, Volusia Speedway, Ocala Gran Prix, Desoto Speedway, and Speedway Park at Fruitland Park. In seven races in 2010, we averaged 43 entries with a total of 303. CHAMP KARTS ONLY! Our basic principles have remained true from the beginning. Growing the champ karts in Florida and keeping the cost down. Today is another day the FCKL takes a step forward. With the ever growing entries, the FCKL has been searching for quality staff to handle the progress. Today we announce two hires. On a part time schedule Ryan Elwood will offer information on the improvement of the FCKL race day process. Part of that improvement is the first ever, official FCKL RACE DIRECTOR - BILL SMITH. For the remaining three races, BILL SMITH will take control of race day operations. This will provide a more consistant race day flow. Starting August 6th at Auburndale Speedway, Bill Smith will help conclude race day calls. The FCKL will enforce penalties for unsportsman on the track and off the track. As one member said to me one night, "We came to race for better quality racing".
Thank you for all your support!

6/12/11 - FLORIDA CHAMP KART LEAGUE presented by VEGA TIRES, Race#5 was about first timers. 46 Champ Entries cruised into Dirt Devils Speedway and left with two first time winners.
In Sportsman Champ Silver, Colin Redding took home the victory and claim his first ever FCKL victory. Mrs Leithead, "You had us covered for sure." Blaise with three FCKL victories came in second, Michael Hinde third, Alex Chevillot fourth, and Mark Reigle fifth.
In Sportsman Champ Blue, 11 took the green to see James Seeright return to victory circle. This was a three kart runaway with Haring, Seeright, and current FCKL point leader, Strosahl nose to tail. Multiple yellows keeping it interesting, Seeright took home the checkered, Haring second, Strosahl third, Katie DePrez fourth, and Jarrett Jones fifth.
Jr Champ Flathead, Ty DeCaire took his fourth straight feature win with newcomer Mikala Hart finishing second.
Jr Champ Mix produced our second first time winner. Anthony Meehan over came an early spinout to win a wild one. Meehan restarted in the rear and that left Holle and DeCaire battling for first. Holle and DeCaire tangled and Holle spun. Now, Meehan had already worked himself back up front and DeCaire would lead Meehan until a last lap yellow. Now, Holle had worked himself back to the front and the restart had DeCaire, Meehan, Holle in order. On the restart, Meehan made the bump go and outraced Holle to the checkered, Holle second, DeCaire third, Nikole Vosiey secretly putting together a good points run fourth, and Austin Kirkland rounding out the top five.
Sr Champ PRO ANIMAL presented by Briggs and Stratton would have produced a third first timer, but Brown winning the feature from the pole position did not tech. Jessica Bohatka picked up the victory and sliced into Ray Folwell's point lead. Don Large finished second, Folwell third, Lineweaver fourth, and Don Luchetti fifth.
Sr Champ Mix had no surprises as Raymond Folwell won his fifth straight feature. Jessica Bohatka had her third straight second place finish, and Billy Smith third. This was closer than it sounds. Smith and Folwell battled up front swapping leads multiple times. As they continued to swap Jessica closed in. With Folwell finally make the pass stick, Jessica followed to get by Smith for second. Don Luchetti fourth, and Christian Baker finished fifth.
